    Default Greater Grace Temple Detroit

Hello! My name is Tre! I am 16 and I LOVE church and Jesus! I just joined Detroit YES and I am looking to gain some knowledge about some black church buildings in the city of Detroit. I want to ask about the Church Greater Grace Temple of the Apostolic Faith. I was looking at some videos when Bishop David Ellis was the pastor and when the church was located at 19190 Schaefer Hwy. I wanted to ask if anyone knew who the architect of that Cathedral. [[The 19190 Schaefer Hwy, Detroit, MI 48235 building)
I also wanted to know does anyone knows where the "Greater Grace Gardens" housing complex was located. It was established in 1977 I believe. Also, does anyone know where the "Greater Grace Credit Union" was located? It was established in 1981. Some pictures of these buildings are below. I am really interested in knowing the history of these buildings and all of the programs Greater Grace ran when Bishop David Ellis was the pastor.

That building wasn't built in 1954. It looks to be from the '70s or '80s or later. The building behind it, at the corner of Schaefer and Cambridge, was begun in 1954 and opened in 1955 as the Congregation Ahavas Achim synagogue.

This page from the August 19, 1955 Detroit Jewish News has an opening announcement for the synagogue at the bottom:

Here is a page from Lowell's [[the person who also runs this site) Lost Synagogues of Detroit project of a few years ago, showing the building when it was Greater Grace Temple, and also showing the newer adjacent cathedral building:

Greater Grace Gardens was located on Schaefer I believe between 7 Mile and the Lodge Service Drive. It was duplex housing [[as you can see in the photo) that I think the church owned and rented out or sold to their congregation during the 60's, 70's and 80's. I have no idea if they still own them. Don't hold me to it though.

Thanks for Replying. I am aware of when the synagogue was built I just sent that link to show you picture of the Cathedral attached to it. I don't know why the caption says that it was built in 1954.
