Default Conquistador, Salvador, Prima Donna, or What?

I have zero basis for an opinion about Salvador Salort-Pons but, in a sign of the times, the DIA's big enchilada is attracting notice all across the political spectrum from morons who have less than zero basis writing for rags like the National Review, World Socialist Review, etc.

Here the issue as to which fairy can best run the DIA has been joined to the broader war as to who cancels whom being fought by fascists and Jacobins alike.

Your comment sounds vague. What is the reason?

6 out of 54 board members resigned largely over ethics violations regarding things like nepotism and a hostile work environment. The DIA decided to keep him on under monitoring. Sounds like a fairly reasonable result for now

Agreed, it may be reasonable for now. But what interests me is how the man's tenure in Detroit have become a political cause célèbre with articles like these:

Cancel Culture Hits Detroit Museum Director Salvador Salort-Pons | National Review

What is the New York Times up to at the Detroit Institute of Arts? - World Socialist Web Site [[wsws.org)

    WTH? World Socialist Web Site??

You might as well have the Teamsters newsletter talking about the DIA...

As for the El Greco... talk about making a meal out of a morsel...

As for the issues about African Americans represented in the art world... well that's a different story... but not one that can easily be fixed in a short period of time.

And the John Birch Society on the flip-side.

I love it when liberals cry about getting what they voted for!

Nah.... I'm an Independent... the last 3 presidents I liked were Reagan, G. H. W. Bush, and maybe Clinton's first term... everything since on both sides has been mayhem.

But this thread is about art... I don't know the new Director well at all... just think that some of the sources on info about him are suspect.

Who knows how you voted? That isn't my concern. I only know what you've been posting for the last four years on this forum. This thread has nothing to do with art. If it did, the title would have been titled something like "What do you think of Paul Klee's use of colors when he painted [________]?" The thread is about the head of the DIA and his politics, who is elected by the DIA's Board of Directors. You can read about it here and fabricate your own conclusions. Without subscribing.

Politics doesn't have to be inserted into every single conversation either.

President James Garfield had potential but was assassinated. I can admire Garfield and then FDR. But nobody after that.

I'm ignoring him... he's had a bug up his butt up about me for the last few years... and likes to snipe and run at some of my posts. Maybe he needs his Amlodipine prescription strengthened or has been drinking the [[you know who) Kool-Aid for too long. But I did a recent review of all of his posts [[nice DYES function to have)... and I see no value in sniveling with him any longer.
