Default Preservation Wayne Spooktacular October Tours...and More

Just a reminder that Preservation Wayne has two new tours coming this October: Cemetery Architecture - Elmwood Cemetery and Haunted Historic Fort Wayne Ghost Hunt. Space is limited - RSVP today!

Cemetery Architecture Tour - Historic Elmwood Cemetery
    Saturday, October 10, 2009, 4pm
Meeting Location: Historic Elmwood Cemetery, Detroit on McDougall at Lafayette
    $12 per person. RSVP Required!

In keeping with the spirit of the Halloween season, enjoy a guided walking tour through Detroit's second oldest cemetery, Historic Elmwood Cemetery. With a mixture of Gothic, Victorian and Romanesque influences, it rivals that of similar European cemeteries such as Pere Lachaise Cemetery in Paris, France. Elmwood is the final resting place of many of Detroit's most legendary political figures. Grave stone rubbings will be offered!

Haunted Historic Fort Wayne Ghost Hunt
    Saturday, October 17, 2009, 6pm
Meeting Location: Historic Fort Wayne, Detroit on West Jefferson at Livernois
$12 per person. [[$5 parking fee not included) RSVP Required!

Explore the grounds of Detroit's only historic fort. Built in 1840, this fort never saw a shot fired in anger yet did house Italian and Russian prisoners of war during WWI and WWII. It also served as the induction center for Michigan troops entering into battle from the Civil War to the Vietnam War. Join us for a guided ghost-hunt that is sure to give you goose-bumps! Post ghost-hunt cider and donut reception included.

    For reservations, call 313-577-7674

So if you've been putting off taking a tour or two, now is the time to pencil in the dates and come on out and enjoy the sites and learn more about our city's history and its architectural treasures.
