Default Autumn Color Peak is Here

One blessings of living in the Detroit-Windsor metro is that before winter kicks our behinds and the darkening "Grayvember" days descend upon us we are treated to a spectacular color show as Mother Nature sings her eternal song ignoring all the bluster of human affairs.

I have been enjoying the display for the last two days, first with a meandering drive along country dirt roads northwest of Milford and today walking along the Upper Rouge in Farmington's Shiawassee Park. So how's the color by you?

Is it really? So soon? My maple is still 95% green. I'm living in a bubble.

I have not been able to enjoy it this year since I've been social distancing and working entirely from home.

Fast Foliage means worst winter in the state.

The color this year is right on time and the hot dry fall contributed to a heighten color display. Get out and enjoy!

So pretty. I've always wanted to visit Copper Harbor. The furtherest I've been in the UP was Tahquamenon Falls. Maybe a road trip is in order with hubby next year.

^^^ I need to get out to Belle Isle to see what pic I might get before it's too late. The Weeping Willows are the last to shed and brown. And one of the earliest to bud. Awesome!

Another pretty one. Did you just wing it going up there or did you have reservations for a place to stay?

I made reservations a month in advance; motels were filling up for "Fall Color" by August and are already booking for next summer. Have to check Michigan Tech's website for when their Homecoming is; it fills Houghton/Hancock area pretty good.

Don't forget our local golf courses, which look splendid this time of year.
