Default The Green Flu Strike again!

Most D-DOT Bus Drivers have walked off on October 2, 2020. You all may not see any buses running in Detroit streets on that day.

You know Danny, the D-DOT drivers walking out affects everyone who uses the system from the poorest neighborhoods to the mega-buck apartments downtown.

From my car, from a distance, I rudely yelled at a couple of people at a bus stop that there was a work stoppage...a strike...and continued driving in to work. The joy of White Privilege I guess.

    Why are they striking?

Against unsafe labor conditions. And a conflict between a D-DOT bus driver and passenger that turn out a beat down and firing of a D-DOT bus driver. When I was on a D-DOT Bus. There were a lack of masks. There were no one cleaning the seats after ever last run. And folks are NOT taking mask or face covering seriously. And too much crowding. Now all D-DOT bus drivers will NOT work until those guidelines are secured. Duggan, the City Council will have to cooperate with the Amalgamated Transit Union and D-DOT President to make improvements for a safer cleaner bus ride.

I believe this! You can barely get compliance on an aircraft, no less on a bus!

So you're reveling in it, huh?

Certainly not "reveling" - definitely "noticing" the situation -
nice to be just a few minutes away from work by car but
at the same time it doesn't feel good to see folks waiting
for their bus that is probably not on its way this particular
    morning.

It is better to be aware if one's bus is not on its way
    and sooner rather than later.

Guess what fellas, All D-DOT bus drivers will not run the busses until possibly Monday, October 5. Until safety guidelines will put in place, they had put their feet down. Never mess with D-DOT bus drivers! Or they will STOP service! They mean it.

Some of you want to find another mode of transportation for the time being.

Airlines now have a tool at their disposal that will make people think twice... 1) you will be escorted off the plane.... 2) you will be banned for life from booking a seat on that airline.

Neither of which D-DOT is likely to do. Good for the bus drivers for standing up for their own, and really everyone's, health and safety. Inconvenience is a bummer, sickness and death and potentially exposing one's family and neighbors to the same is far worse.

^^ Neither of which D-DOT has the database history, time or technology for.

A D-DOT bus driver was suspended for a physical altercation with a passenger. Bus video shows the driver going after the passenger who came up on the driver as the driver was sitting in his seat. The driver had told the passenger that he needed to put on a mask or the bus driver was not going to pull off. The passenger walked up to the driver and demanded that the bus driver drive off. Bus drivers walked out because they did not think the suspension of the bus driver was justified, stating that the driver along with the rest of them are working in hostile [[not sure if this is the word they used) working environment. Now, these are the facts presented on the local news.

Now, the video shows the bus driver getting up and attacking the passenger. In this case, the bus driver put a pretty good butt-whipping on this passenger. Some will say the bus driver was too aggressive and acted without provocation. My argument, if I was the driver's union rep or counsel, would be that the driver felt threatened by the passenger's aggressive action by walking up to the bus driver quickly and demanding the driver drive off, despite the passenger not complying with the driver's request to wear a mask. It's one of those situations where the driver decided he was not going to be the victim in this case and allow the passenger, who was standing close to the driver, to act first. D-DOT drivers deal with a lot of craziness on city busses. I think it is reasonable to expect that from time to time drivers are going to be preemptive in their actions when dealing with passengers. My hope is that the driver is cleared of any wrong doing.

So, getting even closer to the citizen makes sense? My hope if that the soon to be ex-driver gets 5-10.

All of this is a highlight to the position against long, tubular incubators. Promote passenger cars.

No shots and what not - not interested in that as I do not think they provide 100% protection myself. But masks do provide some protection as they're used in hospitals [[the finer micron blocking ones mind you).

Masks are a two-way street in that they somewhat protect the wearer from expectorating or otherwise exhaling the virus onto the OTHER PERSON should they have it rather than blocking the virus incoming. Thus, this is why as I've said [[many times) I don't get why people are driving alone wearing a mask. That is not very purposeful. Nor do I wear one when cycling or walking alone. Just keep one in my pocket then should engage with someone.

I remove my mask as I'm walking to my car, the moment I leave a store etc.

Perhaps someone will run-up-on me at some point, as masking has become but another social litmus test of compliance beyond the COVID!
