Default U.S Government to spend up to a Billion Dollars to Corral "Wild" Horses

Anyone here aware that 50 million of our tax dollars is spent each year to hold feral horses in big pens out West? Not only that, but the plans are to increase the numbers over the next 10 years so more than a BILLION dollars may be needed to feed and maintain them!

This is pure, unadulterated insanity! We have Americans living [[And dying) on the streets of nearly every American city and the numbers increase every day, but our money is being spent to corral a bunch of damn horses?

Give a couple veterans 6 months and a truck load of ammunition and put our funding where it belongs!

    Cause and effect

Create a law to protect the horses, looks good at the moment but this is what happens when it is not thought out.

Save the trees switch to plastic and kill the oceans

Save the trees and allow nature to thin them out as they burn houses down.

I have a friend that has a 501C that places wild horses, they breed like rabbits, nothing to do all day but chomp grass and play hanky panky.

That is what it was all about, you cannot thin the herd by killing them because a law was passed to protect them, but nobody had a plan in what to do when they outnumber the ability for the land to support them.

They are wild horses, chase them down to dart them for population control and they traumatize and freak out long term.

I think they should corral the people that wrote the protection bill and ask them what their plan was long term when they knew it was coming.

What if the horse identifies as a butterfly,we really want to go around eliminating all the pretty little butterflies, because wild horses have rights also.

People in England were eating horse meat and did not even notice until it was discovered, they could round them up and export them to China, lots hungry there.

Have you tried to buy ammo lately,it is pretty scarce as of late.

The horses are innocent,it’s the Mother Earth people and their feel good causes of save the planet but have zero plans on what to do after the moment of victory passes.

Direct your criticism to the Head of the Bureau of Land Management and the man who appointed him, where it belongs.

At least there's nothing more important to be upset about.

Yes because they are following the written law,and we know the law only applies to those who find it convenient.

The protection laws were passed long ago,the man who appointed the head of BLM is obligated to follow the law.

    Remember,nobody is above the law?

Par to the course, look for blame instead of looking for solutions.

It was America’s citizens that pushed to pass the law, nobody is to blame but the American citizens.

The last U.S. horse slaughterhouse was put out of business in 2007 with a combination of state and federal initiatives. Since then, horses have been shipped long distances to Canada or Mexico for slaughter. That is one reason unwanted horses are let loose and wind up with herds of wild horses. Mustang blood has been diluted. There is a breed called Spanish Mustangs which was and is an attempt to identify wild horses that have the most Mustang characteristics.

There have been attempts to both make horse slaughter legal again in the U.S. but in January 2014 Congress and Pres. Obama passed a budget with language making it illegal.
