Default Yahoo News Ditches The Comments Option for all Articles!

I cannot vouch for this website but I did NOTICE that yahoo's comments were gone last I was reading an article. Often the comments contained the best info and links to other information...

What Happened To Yahoo Comments Section? Why Did Yahoo Remove Comments?

    https://www.republicworld.com/techno...%20and%20more.

    From article:

The international news site of Yahoo suspended comments on July 23, 2020. Many speculations started running around after Yahoo suspended comments on its site. Some say that the feature was stopped because many people on the site used words that might disregard certain communities, feelings, and more.

It's censorship of public dissent, plain and simple. The linked articles/opinion pieces on Yahoo were almost always overwhelmingly criticized by the commentators [[And according to many, actively censored). Now we'll only hear one side of the story, and apparently that's exactly how Yahoo/Verizon wants it.

^ Yep. In the most matter-of-fact presentation, you'll see 'news' and policies advanced as though everyone's on-board and in agreement, by default.

Yet the comment sections differed widely, suggesting a MUCH larger non conformity and push-back! Also, sometimes you could learn more on a given subject discussed from those smarter than the reporter. All gone!

Perhaps they'll resume the option first of the year. After the crazy election.

I didn't say that they can't, but it's still censorship.

The Yahoo news page is really just a gathering of links to other news sites, they don't have many stories of their own anymore. It wasn't great and has been getting consistently worse, but I still found it a better starting point than the hard Left/Right sites like CNN, Fox News and the New York Times.

Hah! I never saw Yahoo as a bastion of rarefied news. It mostly serves as an aggregate of other news links etc...

But interestingly their comments were often spot-on!

I wonder what other news outlets will close their comment sections in response to apposing views!

^^ Many already have. Some long ago. Some only allow them on non-controversial 'feels good' stories.

I still have an email account on the 'Hoo but haven't been to their home page in years. Used to use them as a search engine a very long time ago, but they started filling the results with paid ads.

There are a number of other news aggregators out there, so there is no use for the 'Hoo these days.

^^^ Or only allow comments thru your facebook account. If you have one...

It seems to be bowing to pressures applied by the politically correct. Way to much time and effort needed to weed out what some deem insensitive.

^^ More likely related to recent legislation by the current congress and He that wants to neuter the news and free expression. They claimed it was targeted at 'sexploitation' sites, but it's more far reaching than that.

    That's more like it.

The key for the CFR and the leftist elites is to make you believe THAT EVERYONE ELSE ALREADY BELIEVES what they're telling you [[to think). And that you'll be ostracized as a weirdo if you dare to say anything to the contrary publicly.

Then, people who disagree will hopefully keep their mouth shut,.. and it will start to seem EVEN MORE like everyone already believes what the media tells us.

Having actual real people chime in with real opinions puts a fly in that ointment. Even if only 1/3 of the people disagree, so the elites need to censor opposing viewpoints.

Its a part of the progressive nazis to eliminate free speech and oppression through the threat of violence or destroy your business or get you fired from your job.

There is a local rag here called Creative Loafing, they used to be about restaurant reviews, the local music scene and local artists etc.

Now they have progressed into a far left breeding ground of discontent and the reporters stir it up,say one thing positive about Trump and they come out of the woodwork with threats, they do an internet search on where you work and contact employers to try and get people fired etc.

They just do not want to hear anybody else’s opinion or views, point blank.

Yahoo was getting like that just like most other sites.

But there are other sites out there that are pretty cool, they do not even have a stroke over spelling, who would have ever thought there was a normal world out there still?

Ol Bernie is probably sitting back ecstatic that his revolution is finally burning the country down and has morphed into full blown socialist take over,no need to keep the democratic part in there anymore trying to put lipstick on a pig, like that brand was any better.

^^ Nice conspiracy theories Bigdd and Richard... maybe advertisers threatened to stop advertising on those sites if the ugly back and forth wing nuts on the far right and far left would start being civil in the comments section... but that was not to be. This change on most news sites was made in 2017...

^ actually started back in 2016 when the DNC contracted with Russia in order to spread discourse.

Advertisers could care less about the comments section, they care about clicks and discourse raises clicks.

The use of the media to create discourse has been around sense it was printed with a quill.

But thank you for providing a example of the very point of the discussion, because you did not agree with what was posted, you labeled it as a conspiracy.

You would prefer everybody to post exactly what you want to hear, worded exactly how you want to hear and if somebody does not follow your specific protocol then it becomes a conspiracy, freak out over a misspelled word or anything else from the tool box of shame in order to discredit those who you oppose.

Either one is a part of the problem or one is a part of the solution.

It is easy to recognize who falls into what category.

I agree. I was trying to find out who owns or is responsible for Yahoo News, and party affiliation, but no luck. The comments section held a lot of push-back for their one sided political articles. Sequestering response should help with a contrived victory, especially if the campaign isn't going well. For all we know it could be the Russians.

Yahoo News tilts to the left and corporatist interests. However, it does include a minority of articles from the right. Its comment section has been a free for all of comments from all sides. I first noticed that something was up when one article didn't offer a comment option. The next day, all seemed normal again as articles I went to all had a comment option. Then all the comments disappeared and instead "start survey" button showed up. Questions about the readers use and opinion of the comments section were asked.

Yahoo is a private company and has the right to eliminate its comment section and become part of the Democratic machine if it chooses. This really isn't so much different from having only ABS, CBS, and NBC with no feedback options 60 years ago. We have come full circle. Now its the likes of Google, Facebook, and Yahoo that control information.

Verizon purchased Yahoo a few years ago.

That’s what I thought when they took the wall phones away, now they come up with technology in your hand that was supposed to make life easier.

All it has really done is unleash the gates of hell and emboldened people.

Most people replying will say things to others that they would never dare to say to their face.
