    Default What would you do?

Okay, gang, tell me who to pull for. Got a ticket for the March 21 game in Las Vegas between the Golden Knights and the Red Wings. Born and lived in Detroit, 1936 to 1984; Lived in Las Vegas by choice since 1984 [[Well, suburban Henderson, really, but that's splitting hairs.). So what sweatshirt should I wear to the game? I'll keep count and go by your majority.Name: gnvrw.jpg

Really Ray? You have to ask? Would you be enjoying your retirement in Vegas if it weren't for the D? I vote for you to wear the red and white with possibly the greatest logo in sports--even it they are the Dead Things at the moment. Don't kick us while we're down. [And the Red Wing in the picture just got traded.]

Wings are out of playoffs so the 2pts do us no good. I say hope for a close game and wear your Vegas jersey since they can use the 2pts. [[And the goalie in the picture just got traded.)

Is this a trick question Ray?

If I had seen Gordie play like you did I would be rocking my #9 Winged Wheel jersey every time I went near hockey. Any fan worth their salt will be in awe of what you experienced back in the day.

Actually, Better, just a rhetorical question. Yeah, the old days were great....but wait! They just got better! I worked at the 2nd Precinct [[Vernor) DPD back in those days and always volunteered for the police detail at the Olympia. Not only did I see most of the games, but I saw most of them for free. Life was good! Oh....the PD detail also got a free hot dog and coke before the game started. Life was VERY good.

I've never understood how anybody could change their team loyalty. I mean anybody, ever. If you do, it means you were never a fan in the 1st place. I moved to the Toronto area in 1980, 3 years after the Jays were born. I still have to explain that I would never be a Toronto fan since I'd been a Tiger fan for 10 years, since I was 8 years old, when the Jays started.

We went to Phoenix several times to see the Wings play the Coyotes. For years, when the Wings were actually contenders and winners, every time the Coyote fans would start a cheer for the home team they would be drowned out by the Wings' fans. Other fans there told me their attendance would jump 3-5,000 whenever the Wings came to town.

Since the two teams are now in different conferences and the Coyotes and Wings have gone in different directions, that's no longer the case. I still wear the winged wheel and think you should too.

    Wear a Tigers jersey.

To me, loyalty lies with the team you have loved the longest. You can like two teams, but you have to be loyal to just one of them. I've moved all over the US and the world, but my sports loyalties never changed...but I'm a huge sports fan. If you are just a casual fan, wear whatever is clean.

Lowell, you just HAVE to program a "like" button into your site.

Well, if you are really torn on your loyalty I could suggest taking both sweatshirts to a tailor having them cut down the middle and sewn together. You would definitely get some attention there!

Ray, I would go with the Wings sweater.

Wings for the win Ray. Saw my first game 57 yrs ago this month.
I pull for the Jackets to do well down here, but never when they play the Wings.

You should definitely wear Red Wings gear. I suppose the games in LV get a lot of visiting fans so you're liable to meet other Wingnuts. If you have a DPD ballcap be sure to wear that also. Maybe we'll see you on TV!

Yup, wearing the RW sweatshirt and ballcap. Dunno where our seats are, but I"ll wave if I see the eye looking at me.

Your choice, Ray, but my son, who lives in Henderson has found that when he wears his Lions jersey people buy him sympathy drinks.

LOL! I'll let you know if that works with the Wing's shirt!

Aw, bummer! Yeah....got my answer and it doesn't matter now. Between all the doom and gloom in the news, the weather here in Vegas is unusually rainy and heavily overcast to add to the mood.

Guess I'll grab a Franklin from the ATM and head for the casino.

Local sports station is playing the rest of the Wings games on computer. They’re still losing.
