The MDEQ sent Gary Sayers, Electrol Plating Services, notices for 20 years!. What the hell took them so long to shut this business down. They have no answers. Sheesh

It's been on the local news daily on Channel 2; EPA is on site and the oozing has stopped. Stopped a week ago, but containing what already oozed out is the issue. They're trying to stop it from getting into Lake St Clair

Residents have been reaching out concerning the extent of the contamination at the hexavalent chromium spill at 696/10 mile & John R. I've spoken to Tricia Edwards from EPA's Region 5, and as of right now, we don't have reason to believe that the environmental contaminant is directly impacting Ferndale. Groundwater in the area flows north/northeast, away from Ferndale borders. Additionally, airspace around the location was sampled by the hazmat teams that responded to the site, and dangerous levels of the pollutant were not detected.Next week, the EPA will begin extracting dozens of soil borings as part of an effort to determine how seriously the soil is contaminated and how far the contamination has spread with flows of rain and groundwater. Soil samples will be taken from directly around the site and along the embankment to track migration. From their soil testing in the immediate area they will make determinations on the need to extend testing further out based on the levels of contamination found.
I've requested to be put on the EPA distribution list to be kept informed on any new findings or activity, and will share any important updates here.
