Default 'Where would we be ... without Detroit?' - Baltimore blogger

ModelD's weekly e-zine today flags a read-worthy post at an 'Urban Revival' blog by an anonymous "planner in the Baltimore Metro Area seeking to discuss city planning as well as how people experience urban life."

    Excerpt:
Ask yourself, on a historical level, where would we be as a country without Detroit? . . .

While we can never bring Detroit back to what it was 50 years ago, we can still transform the city from a once great industrial city into a great historical city and not watch city turn into a ruin from afar.
His post is illustrated with 8 images and a caption by Detroit photographer/blogger James D. Griffioen.

Here's way to bring Detroit back to its industrial glory:

    1. Slow down suburban and big box expansion.

    2. Stop city government corruption.

    3. Have the Detroit Police GET TOUGH on perps!

    4. Create racial hamony with our neighborhoods.

    5. Stop the flow of weed and crack and guns.

    6. Lower the tax base.

    7. Fix up vacant buildings and tear down the bad eyesores.

    8. Create better public transit system.

    9. Create better greenscapes and safer playfields.

    10. Create better alternative jobs. [[ If we convince corporations and politicians to reduce globalization)

    11. Create more ethnic festivities.

    12. Create a better Detroit Public Schools system.

    13. Start neigborhoods block clubs.

    14. Provide community centers for adults and children.

    15. Create more mom and pop retail stores in or neighborhoods. [[ Please depend on them.)

    16. Fix up our dipidated Detroit Fire Dept.

17 FINALLY! Stand up against and make your voice known that YOU'RE ARE A TRUE DETROITER. AND NOBODY CAN TAKE MY CITY AWAY!

    WORD FROM DETROIT

Fixing Detroit takes action not talk! for Neda Soltani's sake.
