    Default StormWater Utilities in Michigan

Plan on getting a new bill soon, from the StormWater Utility.
Just like those other utilities Gas & Electric, you'll pay a monthly fee for how much goes into the pipes.

It's happened in many other areas of the USA :

What's the difference between the city billing $530/impervious acre as opposed to this?

There won't be any FEDERAL funding for infrastructure,
so the State of Michigan needs a new revenue machine for upgrades.

The catch is how the Michigan courts dance around the issue.
If indeed the ruling stands, and it is a considered a Fee,
than no one can call it a tax and voters will note vote on it.

Plan on a StormWater Utility entity all across Michigan soon.

Interesting read. How much longer until there is a breath tax to charge for how much carbon dioxide we exhale ?

Does breathing require hundreds of miles of underground infrastructure?

If you own property and an entity takes care of removing its stormwater, as well as prevents stormwater from other property owners from affecting your property, you'll want to consider funding that effort.

Also, if we don't create stormwater utilities, then you'll need to fund stormwater management out of a general fund, generally collected by a millage. In that scenario a homeowner ends up paying more than they would have if a stormwater utility was enacted. This is because businesses generally have much greater amounts of impervious surface between the large structures as well as the parking lots.

I'm very much in favor of funding stormwater utilities where they exist or need to exist.

I'm super curious how the thing works INTER-County.
Where stormwater is consciously, intently, and on purpose,
    - forced upon neighboring counties.

Oakland county uses the 5 rivers - to move stormwater,
    - instead of its lakes - as reservoirs for rainwater runoff,
    pushing IT's problem onto others.
