    Default White linen restaurant

How many metro Detroiters know the difference between
cotton tablecloth and a linen tablecloth ?
On that note who has FLAX garments in their closet ?

Table Number 2 opens Easter Sunday on Livernois

Focus on the food, not the tablecloth or napkins.

Do you care if you get any tablecloth, when the food is good ?

Missing the forest for the trees. University District, Sherwood Forest, Green Acres, Livernois are about to gentrify.

I always found Ferndale to be a uniquely depressing place. Hillbilly neighbors, shabby little homes, and - even - lousy schools! Contrast it to the stately homes in that corner south of 8-Mile. Somewhat hard-hit, but I loved the meandering curves of Sherwood Forest and Palmer Woods, and I've always admired Palmer Park even in its lowest points. Is there even a single greenspace in Ferndale?

With the rising rents in the greater downtown area people with means and taste can be just a hop, skip and a jump away up Woodward...

Now we're finally seeing the commercial interest in a meaningful way. Let's never forget the holdouts, though, especially Baker's Keyboard Lounge...

Gentrification has nothing to do with great FOOD or tablecloths.
I've eaten tremendously awesome food out of tinfoil packets with my fingers

Often the pretentiousness of linen and a sommelier left me wanting
to eat somewhere else a few hours later.
Few places get the serving size correct, with a high price tag to match,
where I walked away well fed and happy to pay.

    Neither does DISCUSS DETROIT....

    ... now NON-DETROIT ISSUES might...

Poobert's comments was actually adding a Discuss Detroit tangent to the thread.

much success to the owners. hopefully this will lead to more diverse kinds of restaurants in the residential areas, beyond downtown, midtown and corktown.

I think it's great that the old Avenue of Fashion area is seeing a rebirth. I hope everyone with businesses in the area thrive.

Exactly; I drive through their frequently and love seeing all the new businesses opening the bright colors and lights. It's exciting. My daughter went to UDM in the 90's and I would have loved for this to have happened then.

What's a tablecloth? I'm just a bumpkin from Maycomb County.

Let's hope the restaurant pulls through - it's a rough business, many fail.

Doesn't sound as if anyone went in and ate a meal.
Wonder if they keep the riff raff out ?

About to gentrify? The gentry have always lived there. Does that mean Birmingham is gentrifying because their housing values are going up?

Yes, the commercial district hasn't matched the income level of the residents for decades, and that is finally changing. I hope the momentum continues so the neighborhood residents spend even more of their money on the Avenue of Fashion than at Somerset, Birmingham, Royal Oak or, yes, even Ferndale.

And I don't know if you're being hyperbolic or just blind, but Ferndale has a huge "greenspace" just north of Green Acres right on 8 Mile. And they have many other greenspaces too: https://www.ferndalemi.gov/resources...ng-development

And while you may not be a fan of their housing stock and schools, there aren't many hillbillies left. Unless Hillbillies is a new pejorative for Progressives that I'm not aware of.

    General Manager/Restaurateur, Shimar Mitchell
and Executive Chef/Restaurateur Omar Mitchell have a vision for Table 2

TABLE NO. 2 specialize in gourmet American cuisine.
King Snow Crab Legs, amazing table-side Tomahawk Steaks,
creamy Seafood Alfredo, tender Lamb Chops and so much more.

Source fresh ingredients from local farmers' markets.

A filet mignon will set you back about $ 40 [[
8 oz Prime Cut Tenderloin )

I'm sure they would feed a solo person dressed appropriately.
When you go, touch the napkins and tablecloth, tell us if they lied.

    Rumour has it :
Linen tablecloths make a restaurant feel like it’s higher quality.
Most people think food served with linens tastes better.

$40 isn't bad if it's prime. You wouldn't get chicken for that at Prime and Proper. I hope they are doing well.

i wonder how disruptive the construction on Livernois this summer will be to business there. Seems inconvenient.
