But at this point, it appears that McNerney may be suffering from confirmation bias -- an approach to processing information that stifles inconvenient truths while embracing news that paints the picture that the decision-maker wants to see.
    Bats, is that you?

seriously, this is where we are headed. Engineers once had job security -- no more. Watch Boeing build China an airforce with US tech secrets. If they do this, the US MUST cancel every development contract with them as a matter of national security

Like Halliburton before it, Boeing is just acting like what it is- a fascist run, right wing corporation with no allegiance to country or it's people.

I have said it for three decades- when Americans running American corporations begin eating their own, then it's lights out.

We are finished as a society when the wealthiest among us decide to use that wealth as a weapon against us.

Welcome to the world of cash for gold commercials, slick scams, payday loans, foreclosures and phony wars on drugs.

The parallels with the fall of the Roman Empire are breathtakingly similar.

Interesting. I picked up on that, too, rb336.

I now have a label for the Cheney Administration's approach to invading Iraq.

As for Boeing moving to China...it doesn't surprise me in the least.

Let's not let hyperbole carry us away, here.

The Roman Empire did very well, thank you, until the "Christian" knights of the Fourth Crusade sacked Constantinople in 1204 and set up the Latin Empire which lasted for about 75 years and from which the Byzantines never really recovered.

Boeing moved its corporate headquarters to Chicago during the Bush administration. One of the reasons given was that Chicago had more direct flights for Boeing executives and corporate clients than Seattle.

Wouldn't it be ironic if Boeing substantially moved to China while we have a Democrat President and Congress running the economy [[further down)? During the Bush administration, GM started to heavily invest in China. Along the same lines, the Obama administration has so far authorized GM to export Chinese cars as 'Chevrolets' and invest another $293M in China now that unemployment has risen to 28.9% in Detroit.

Why? Easy, government regulation and taxation create such a disparate burden that can be avoided by outsourcing.

    What's so hyperbolic about it?

    1. The interests of the wealthy class, whether personal or corporate, written into the laws of the land
    2. Economically beholden to foreign interests
    3. A corrupt body politic
    4. A general disregard for the wellbeing of the masses
    5. Empire building/expansion/nation building
    6. Growth of reactionary/conservative religious views/personality cult worship
    7. Resource plundering [[oil, natural gas, logging)

You do realize that Blackwater's Erik Prince fancies himself as a latter-day crusader, put on earth to eliminate Muslims from the earth? All the while having full-bore support from our government to kill with impunity in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The group known as "The Family" which seeks to solidify power in Washington using religious exceptionalism as the standard by which they frame their entitled view of the world.

The strengthening of religious right radicalism in the form of local/state militia groups.

So what were the major differences now?

The conclusion of the meeting was that McNerney is comfortable with the way the 787 was developed but thinks it could use a bit of tweaking....
It's odd that the article didn't mention how many times the 787 schedule has slipped. It's been far worse than the 777 schedule ever was.

An engineer in the know once told me that Boeing's electronics failure rate on the original B-1 was 85%.
