Default What's Going on at Republic?

With the news today the Conserva's Matt Baldridge is taking over as executive chef at Republic restaurant, my thoughts were spurred to think back on what has been going on there since the restaurant's opening. I'm sure Matt's days are already numbered as the restaurant has fired three executive chefs in three years. Each female chef gave vague PR responses as to why they were fired but I've never seen the truth come out as to why the restaurant is flying through chefs so fast. Quality clearly wasn't the issue as Kate Williams and Sarah Welch have gone on to open their own incredibly successful restaurants. So does anyone know the real story?

Were the other chefs fired? I thought they wanted to go out and open their own restaurants?

When a restaurant's owner's vision/trajectory doesn't align with the chef's, especially very talented ones, conflict and eventual separation occur.

It plagued Antietam throughout its brief history and continues to plague Republic/Parks & Rec.

I wouldn't think Matt would come on board without a healthy ownership stake as part of the deal.
