I get that these students are illegally overstaying their visas but I wonder how many of you think this much resources to "capture" a few of these people is worth it, especially when thousands overstay their welcome every year. I do find it more than a little ironic how the president can't get a couple of billion for his wall [[stupid as it is) but there appears to be unlimited funds for these kind of missions. Not to mention how much all the troops playing with barbed wire on the border is costing.

I get that some may have been naive enough to think they were signing up for a real university. But for most, the protests don't seem authentic. My impression is that most knew what they were signing up for - paying a school cash to stay in the country. If anyone believed differently, the fact that classes hadn't been held for three years might have been a clue.

The university started under Obama and finished under Trump. An article said they were originally going for the brokers who recruited individuals, but ended up with a vast sweep of everyone involved. Those seem consistent with the two administrations' styles.
