    It did happen in Michigan at least.

    And this is definitely an awesome story. For some people, it could pay off their student loans or medical bills. For others, it's a nice down payment on a house.

    It would be great if there were more business owners like him.

    For some people, it could royally screw up their taxes. If it happened to kick them into another tax bracket, they might possibly see less than half of that. Might knock them out of other income based programs too.

    That all may be true, but still a nice gesture. You don't see owners of companies giving back, to the people who are the foundation of the company. Most are greedy, and self-serving. Nice Christmas present.

    If you read the article it says the money will be paid in installments starting in 2019.

    Also, much of it is being given through their 401k. So for most it won't be taxed until it's withdrawn in retirement.
