Default Detrola Radios ? Players, wartime equiptment?

In the back of an online digital library post on the Polar Bear thread, I read about Detrola radios.

I've never heard that name in my life, [[64), and did a photo search, and what beautiful pieces of art they are. And also a big part of the Arsenal of Democracy during WWII. AKA Delray and Silvertone.

If you can share any knowledge about this company I would appreciate it. This looks like a future purchase. I want a piece of this history.

Don't know much about them myself but, I was just at an estate sale and they had one priced at $100.00 A gentlemen that was looking it over [[a collector) plugged it in and it worked. Sound was clear but I was more interested in how it looked....like a piece of furniture.
