Default Erroneous Foreclosure Signs on Property where taxes are paid?

Has anyone noticed City of Detroit signs posted on their residential property - where taxes have been PAID in full!? I have a friend in such a situation. He received one as did another neighbor. Both have paid taxes. I observed a person going up and down Gilchrist street Northwest Detroit.

Does any have that link posted that you could look up property ownership and tax status bus home address? Thanks.

Are you sure this person was a City employee? Has your friend called the City at a known number and not any on this paper?

He's out of town but I did a bit of sleuthing ahead of another family member removing and photographing the notice. Turns out the amount owing is under five dollars and change! Yet his receipts show full payment - to the penny.

Found this web site that was most helpful for looking up parcels/ property:

It sounds like a scam it me. The only place you will get Detroit tax bills from is the Wayne county treasurer. I've never heard of them sticking signs in yards. Call their offices first.

I agree about calling the offices first, but hasn't the State been doing COD taxes for the last few years?

I would concur. The ripoff artist love to inject fear into their victims to extract what they want from them. It is very similar to how politicians operate these days.

I hear that. I wonder what tool is [[and what are they paying them) willing to go door-to-door in the D posting signs on any level outside of a announcement that the residents won that fat million from Publishers Clearing House! ----

This is a tiny bit off-topic but another site had a discussion
about some deed fraud that has been happening and one
    poster recommended

I'm not sure if the signs are legit, but one thing to watch for are situations where there are multiple taxable parcels. Many lots [[And Garages) have been lost to tax foreclosure when a homeowner was diligently paying their taxes, but didn't realize the strip of land on the side of their home was is a separate taxable lot.

^^^ Yes, parcels can be easily overlooked. This site shows lots and houses side-by-side with ownership identified:

Unfortunately, the Detroit data in makeloveland.com is no longer being updated. Use the cities site:
    https://data.detroitmi.gov/Property-...-Map/fxkw-udwf

It has up to date ownership info.

That's city income tax the state took over collection of.

Well that's disappointing - makeloveland.com was pretty useful. I wonder what happened - it looks like the Detroit data is available to developers.

So, did anybody call the City yesterday?

^^^ Yes, and they cannot even get their story straight. Depends on who you get on the phone when dealing with the city. Soon as you hear the 'I don't want to be bothered' tone, hang up and hope for better......
