I saw Detroit '67 at the Public Theater in NYC a few years ago. I thought it was quite good. Well written, well acted, and, although all of the action is confined to a single set, exciting, and of course tragic. Although there were obviously a few holes that Detroit locals [[particularly those of us who are old enough to remember the event itself) might spot, my overall impression was of a blossoming talent.

I'm glad to hear that she's gotten a "genius" grant. But I don't think Detroit '67 has ever been produced in Detroit, and I'm not sure if any of her other Detroit-related work has been either.

Detroit Public Theater, which is now in it's fourth season, did Detroit '67 their first season, and Skeleton Crew last season. Pipeline opens tomorrow night.

I did see it then. I remember thinking "great, another documentary on the '67 riots", but it turned out to be very good with a unique perspective. I got a chance to meet Dominique before the play. I'm going to bookmark the link and check out DPT. You should post new plays on the "10 Things To Do This Weekend " thread.
