The 1900 census is available for free at http://tinyurl.com/qntama
The 1880 census is available for free at www.familysearch.com

For the others, you'll have to use Ancestry.com or HeritageQuest.com. Both are PAY sites.

I'm looking forward to April 1, 2012. At that time the 1940 census will become available [[they are not public for 72 years). And for the first time, I'll be able to see my name on a census report!

I've put up some new cards over at www.buildingsofdetroit.com/postcards. Some of the messages are pretty interesting.

    He understates.

At least 11 new cards. And "pretty interesting" includes:

    *
A young worker's enthusiasm about how grand life was here in the Summer of '22.

    * A girl's hospitalization after . . . well, you really have to read it.

. . . and other evocative slices of life 80 to 100+ years ago. You'll be glad you invested 10 or 15 minutes to travel back to the age of inkwells, 1-cent stamps and language such as "your smiling countenance."

Thanks for posting 'em, Buildings of Detroit!

Can't wait to have some serious down time to research the new postcards that are on the "Greetings from Detroit" site!
