Default TedX Detroit - Wed Sept 26th

Who will attend TedX Detroit - Wed Sept 26th ??
    http://www.tedxdetroit.com/

Some might say stories that trigger emotion are the ones
that best inform, illuminate, inspire, and move people to action.

Others claim it has to be Novel, delivering information
that is unique, surprising, or unexpected.

Retention is aided dramatically by pictures, images, and animation
Few remember just a lecture, with words alone.

Perhaps this crowd is just lip service, UNengaged, UNwilling
to immerse themselves with those that drive Detroit forward.

    All mouth and no action

The area’s leading creators, entrepreneurs, educators, artists, geeks, designers, scientists, leaders, thinkers and doers
will gather in Detroit Wednesday, September 26th
to share positive ideas for the world from Detroit.

    Technology, Entertainment and Design, [[TED)
three broad subject areas that are shaping our future.

    What’s with the X?

We are the X. The multipliers. The catalysts. The connectors. The amplifiers. We challenge the status quo. We come together to collaborate, to share fresh ideas and to find inspiration.

I may attend myself. Interested to hear from those that have the means and motivation to move Detroit forward. Who knows, I may even meet some forum members while i'm at it.

OR... it could be that not everyone has the desire to take a day off of work to pay $125 to listen to people speak. Thank you for caring enough for us all though.

I think people would rather ignore the facts
and read the hype , the glitz, the snippets.

Actually focusing on a speaker's presentation
for 20 minutes might be a stretch for some.
Multiple topics in one day might overwhelm a few.
Pushing the envelope could make some uncomfortable

Is the price steep, I think not, especially for the
amount of items presented all in 1 day

    Just sayin'

Is there anyway to watch without attending if you are up able to be physically there?

Sounds like you have it all figured out with your assumptions and oversimplified generalizations. Good job.

I get the idea that O3H likes to bet on both sides, you know, runs with the foxes and hunts with the hounds.
He/she currently takes the safe bet by praising everything but Detroit despite its major transformation over the past few years. When the time comes and he/she is proven wrong, I suspect his/her prior criticism will morph into “it was intended as encouragement”. I could be wrong.....

I simply call it - as I see it - pure and simple.
Just about every major development RECEIVED A HUGE tax break....
-- hence all that wonderfulness didn't do the City of Detroit much good,
either now, or 10, 15, 20 years from now as those taxes won't roll in.

Yeah I look at all 6 sides of the box, kick it crunch it, rip it and
then, and only then do I decide if what's in the box still shines nice.

Then show us major residential/commercial/industrial developments ANYWHERE GLOBALLY, that Detroit is the expection and not the norm in terms of giving out tax breaks. etc, etc....

    Because you know....you're an expert.
