Default Michael Bolton Documentary May 15

Film sounds like it has become a cheerleading movie for downtown's revival. Not sure how the financing gets it into 500 cinemas nationwide, even on a Tuesday night. How many people outside Detroit will pay to see it?

Was speaking to an agent yesterday and she brought this up. Thought it was a different Michael Bolton like in Office Space.

Did I miss something somewhere? How and when did Michael Bolton, the king of cheesy faux-soul, who I believe isn't even from this area, become the cheerleader of Detroit? Not that I would turn away any positive attention we get, but Michael Bolton, who's made a career riding on swiped and 'bleached' music, seems like a rather unlikely champion for our city.

I have to agree. The guy grew up in Connecticut. He says he was a Tigers fan growing up because he cheered for the underdog against the Yankees. It sounds like the underdog theme carried through when he played concerts in Detroit and got to meet some of the local artists, who had a passion for the city. But you are correct, he's just this side of Michael McDonald in terms of guys you want to punch in the face whenever he sings a Motown cover.

^^Mike was in town paling around with Dan Gilbert a year or two ago, maybe that has something to do with it.

Just in case someone hasn't seen it.
