Default Footage or Stills of Michigan Central Depot 1900s - 1980s?

Hi, I'm working on a TV documentary on the amazing Michigan Central Depot - we'd love to find more footage of the depot when it was operational. If anyone has any old video hidden in their attic that might have shown the depot - external or ideally internal - I would love to see it. Also, any photos taken from inside the depot could be useful.

I've got a lot of footage from regular sources, but I'd love to see if the members of DetroitYES! might have some more. If we use them, we'd pay you a fee for our use. emily58@gmail.com

You might try the New York Central System Historical Society in Ohio, at

and indeed, be sure to ask about "MC Depot," or they won't know what you're talking about. I don't know if they have a film archive.

For background, you should obtain the 1960's Kalmbach reprint of "Passenger Terminals and Trains" by Droege. This book was written shortly after the Depot was opened, and describes its architectural and people-handling features. It was a marvel of efficiency.

You're quite correct - It is, of course, a depot! I've edited my post!

Depot is a North American way of saying a terminal station. It's still a station.

As I am working on a Documentary of Detroit myself, I found a few Photos my father took in the late 70's to 80's of the Station from the outside
