Default Freep Has A Very Nice Article On Fmr. Detroiter, Cardinal Joe Tobin

    https://www.freep.com/story/news/201...ope/474176002/

Suggests he is a possible pope. Doubt the Cardinals would select an American, but he would be a good choice.

My guess would be Cardinal Tagle of Manila.

I've heard Cardinal Tagle speak in an academic speech at Catholic University of America and he is very much a Pope Francis type Cardinal. He speaks excellent English. Holds an advanced degree from CUA.

And, yes, the Catholic Church could have a real split when selecting the next Pope, between the Pope Francis followers and the traditionalists.

Another Cardinal who would have been an excellent choice, but probably not considered in the past because he is an American is Cardinal Wuerl of Washington. A gifted Cardinal. Excellent speaker, etc.

Indeed. One of the key phrases is:

"Tobin, 65, is the first Detroit-born-and-bred priest to ever become a Catholic Cardinal..."

Seems to be very likable and down to earth. I wonder what the nicknames are that his siblings gave him that they won't mention.

Free Press also did a nice article on the grade school girl's basketball team from Most Holy Trinity. Worth getting the paper Sunday just for those two articles.
