Default What would u honestly do with $352 Milion

    Any takers?

I'll reserve my answer for later. I am interested to see what some of you would do with this blessing.

First of all...it would not be that amount after taxes. But if I was to win a large amount of money the following would be what I would do...

    1. Call my attorney and an accountant do what is necessary to do 2 through 4 below with the
    least amount of tax liability
    2. Pay off our credit card accounts.
    3. Set up trust funds for our children and grandchildren
    4. Build the Georgia Street Community Collective's Market and Community Center
    5. Travel with hubby throughout the USA and see all the wonderful sights this country
has to offer...starting with a return to Washington DC, where we had our honeymoon.
    6. Buy a nice condo on a lake, furnish it and get a pontoon boat
    7. Get new cars...made in the USA, of course
    8. Invest some, bank some.

Is it considered a blessing if the money is from SATAN?

    Satan money? hmm

I like BlueEyedOne's rational approuch to the scenero ... I'll add this wrinkle.

With the help of a great tax lawyer, I'd:

Set up a 501 3[[C) non-profit. Establish my church of the Home Repair. If you don't recall, my church is not a church building per se. The flock shows up at another Member's home and does home repair/ maintenence for a period of 2 hrs every Sunday. The Home Member is required to feed and water the crew for the morning. Next week, the flock shows up at another Member's home and again repairs are completed. Maximum number of church families: 24.

On the old forum I had some Jimmy Swaggart style prayer that was to be read before each "service".

Anyway, the Church of Holy Home Repair would be outfitted with a full truckload of supplies, tools and materials courtsey of the Windfall.

Second, establish a scholarship program for men and women who are 45+ yrs to allow them to take two years off from their careers to 1, be a Peace Corp Volunteer; 2, live in the City as homeless people.

Three, provide a nest egg for my rapidly approaching golden years.

Four, get my hip replaced, a hair transplant and a mustache waxing.

Five, hire some ex Blackwater employees to pay a nighttime visit to a friend in suburban Dallas. Rusty drills and saws would be provided by the Church of Home Repair.

    That's enough.

I would like to say I would use most of it for good causes and helping the needy. But I'm afraid I would probably succumb to greed and end up spending most of it on myself.

    What Blue said!

I'd pay off the student loans of my niece and nephews. And give my sisters and my brother a couple million each. Have new homes built for our 3 sons and their families. Oh, and have a new home built for us, with a guest house so my parents could be with us.

I would freely spend it making life as pleasurable as possible for my wife, my two sons, and myself.

I would have a will drawn up which would indicate that, in the event of my death, the three of them would split up whatever was left.

    Of the money, that is.

My luck I would have a heart attack or get hit by a bus on the way to my lawyer's office with the ticket!

Ya know Grundyke - that would probably happen to me too! On one of the big payouts just recently...I had the first 2 numbers and the first digit on the 3rd number was correct; my heart started jumping and I started to get dizzy. Ended up where the other numbers were either one or two numbers off for the big payoff! Weird feeling - - so close, but was not to be!

    Ok my turn.

Honestly, I would first call an old friend of mine who is an attorney. Have him help me set up a trust for myself, my son my ex-wife , her new husband ad their yet to be born baby.
The trust would pay out to each of us a one time lump sum of a million dollars a piece so that we could spend the money on what ever we wanted and then a weekly allowance as long as they work with the poor.
If they refuse then the one time payment is all they get.
The remainder of the trust would be put to work in the way of purchasing a huge block of real estate in a major city like NY in the Chinatown district.
The residents of that block would have 2 choices .
1)be relocated to a comparable apt and have a one time lump sum paid to them for their troubles
    or
    2) relocated temporarly while the block is razed and I build a new skyscraper .
They would move back in at the same rent they paid previously.
The remainder of the building would be affordable housing for newly arrived immigrants and their families or singles.
The first floor of this building would be all commercial and specifically set aside for asian influenced businesses so as to keep the integrity of Chinatown and one of the spots would be set aside for me to open a rest. which after closing I would use to feed Chinatown's homeless or anyone that basically needs a free meal.
Of course the building would have to turn a profit in order to keep up with the cost of living and my family would have to be involved in the day to day operations in order to qualify to continue recieving their share the the trust.
The top floor would be mine with a sprawling roof deck garden and swimming pool.
Oh yea take a vacation and finally see that Bon Jovi concert i always wanted to.

Might as well use Satan's loot for do goodery.

I would keep as much as I needed to ensure a comfortable interest income for the rest of my life [[probably less than 20%) and distribute the rest among my friends, family, and a few humanitarian organizations.

What makes you characterize the money as coming from Satan?

I would put $10 million away in a safe environment [[at 2%/year, that would be 200k on which to live), then set up a foundation to promote causes I support

What makes anyone think that it would be coming from God?

Deflection. The question wasn't where I think the money may be coming from, but rather why you would think it is coming from Satan.

[[Which, by the way is a false dichotomy which posits that there are only two sources for the money, God or Satan. It ignores the perfectly feasible choices that the money comes from neither, or both.)

UFO, I'm surprised you wouldn't use the money for your ~~~ Compound in Almont.

LOL... I was thinking the same thing gnome... but then Almont's Chinatown isn't worth buying a huge block of real estate so that the integrity of the Chinatown district won't be disturbed...

    1. Set up trusts to secure [[from government) the funds for myself and children.
    2. Buy a few toys [[a couple of million).
    3. Invest in businesses and endeavors that I believe are promising. Not so much for the purpose of making money on the investment [[although that is part of it), but to become a part of the success and productivity that the investment allows them to accomplish.
    4. Political contributions to oppose socialist fascist tyrants and support capitalists.

"Common wealth" ? An immoral concept because it cannot coexist with the concept of individual [[property) rights being the most important value and component of liberty.
