The 90^th Anniversary of Police Radio
celebration is:

APRIL 7, 2018 at 2 PM
Location: Belle Isle on Inselruhe Drive at
the Old Police Station.

There will be a display at "Shiver on the River" this Saturday.

First call letters of the DPD station, now KQA 414, were "KOP". True.

First call letters of the DPD station, now KQA 414, were "KOP". True.

It was KQA414 till they moved to the 800Mhz trunked system.
Call letters are now sent electronically.

The old dispatchers said "If I had a nickel for every time I said KQA414, I would be a rich man.

Detroit started broadcasting call signs every 15 minutes so field units knew their radios were still functioning. It became an FCC rule.
