  • Details: Detroit's 8-year-old version of the New York City Times Square ball drop is moving this year from Campus Martius to Beacon Park, a new green space next to DTE Energy Co.'s headquarters.

Rockin' New Year's Eve 2018 — Wyandotte

  • When: 6 p.m. Sunday-1 a.m. Monday
  • Where: Biddle Avenue and Maple Street in downtown Wyandotte, next to the clock tower
  • Details: This all-ages event has heated tents, an outdoor bar, live music and two ball drops: One at 9 p.m. for families and one at midnight.

Detroit Symphony Orchestra New Year's Eve Concert

  • When: 8 p.m. Sunday -2 a.m. Monday
  • Where: Orchestra Hall at 3711 Woodward Ave. in Detroit
  • Details: The DSO's bash includes a preconcert party, a two-hour concert featuring the music of Michael Jackson and an after-party.
  • Cost: Some packages are sold out, but some tickets were still available for $275 and $500.

Noon Year's Eve

  • When: 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday
  • Where: Detroit Historical Museum, 5401 Woodward Ave.
  • Details: Midnight is late. Preschool and elementary-aged children can celebrate instead with a countdown to noon, complete with snacks and noisemakers.

Kids' Drop at Motor City New Year's Eve

  • When: 4-7 p.m. Sunday
  • Where: Beacon Park at Grand River and Cass avenues in Detroit
  • Details: The Motor City NYE Drop's Kids' Zone has a jungle gym, karaoke and a youth choir — it'll also host a kids ball drop at 6:30 p.m.
  • Cost: Free

Macomb County New Year's Eve Gala and New Year's Eve in Never Never Land

  • When: Sunday 4-9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.-late
  • Where: Main Street and New Street in downtown Mount Clemens
  • Details: Midnight fireworks are the distinguishing feature for Macomb County's annual street party in downtown Mount Clemens. The early ball drop for kids, the Never Never Land party, is nearby.
  • Cost: Fireworks are free, but some areas may be ticketed

Family-Friendly New Year's Eve Extravaganza at Mt. Brighton

  • When: 5 p.m. Sunday
  • Where: Mt. Brighton, 4141 Bauer Road, Brighton
  • Details: There's a giant fireworks display, live DJ and dancing, a photo booth, food and more at the Livingston County ski hill.
  • Cost: Free

Final Detroit Lions game

  • When: Doors open at 11 a.m. Sunday; kickoff is 1 p.m.
  • Where: Ford Field in Detroit
  • Details: Get to the game early for giveaways, DTE Power Hour drink specials, a chat with Lions veterans Lomas Brown and Herman Moore, and more. O'Toole's Irish American Grill in Royal Oak is offering a shuttle service.

Belle Isle New Year's Eve Family Fun Run/Walk

  • When: The first run is 3:30 p.m. Sunday
  • Where: Belle Isle Park in Detroit
  • Details: The 48th annual event has two options: a one-mile fun run and a 5K. Register online through 6 p.m. Saturday or at the Belle Isle Casino before the races, starting at noon.
  • Cost: $40 for those 13 and up; $20 for children 12 and younger
