California seems far away to some of us, but the raging range of this fire's impact will be wide and long term. Homes, business and crops destroyed quickly.

On the serious note, this has cost many their homes and some their lives, and some are missing. Livestock lost in the thousands I would guess. Agriculture in shambles... etc.

This event is going to have an impact across the nation on way or another. I wonder how much of the fires are attributable to arson?

They were interviewing the state forestry official and she said it was a cumulation of 100 years of undergrowth and state cut backs on controled burns.

There was a big issue of not useing the big supertankers in the beginning that may have had extra ramifications.

Most of the firefighters are from the jails getting paid $2 per day,I am sure they are supervised as far as fire fighting methods and good use of personal.

Wine country was devastated and they are saying it will impact for years to come,tough with fire,it just destroys everything in its path.
