Default GM Heading Toward all Electric Fleet - 20 new all-electric models coming by 2023

“General Motors believes in an all-electric future,” said Mark L. Reuss, G.M.’s global product chief. “Although that future won’t happen overnight, G.M. is committed to driving increased usage and acceptance of electric vehicles.”

When China talks, GM listens, Ford too. Volvo made news a couple week back announcing it was going all electric. Now the big boys are apparently following suit.

"China has said it will eventually ban gasoline-powered cars. California may be moving in the same direction. That pressure has set off a scramble by the world’s car companies to embrace electric vehicles.

"On Monday, General Motors, America’s largest automaker, staked its claim to leadership. Outlining a fundamental shift in its vision of the industry, it announced plans for 20 new all-electric models by 2023, including two within the next 18 months."

I am not sure of the practicality of this but I do find liberating our auto industry from big oil attractive.

Meanwhile GM stock is surging hitting 52 week highs--a mix of hurricane flooding and general conditions--always good news for us in the D.

It may be interesting in 10 years using the app on your phone to find the nearest gas station, sort of like pay phones. Would gas prices really spike or fall dramatically when only about 10-15% of cars use it?

It seems that if one looks at things over many decades they find certain trends [[negative in this case):

    1). Automobiles assembled in MI.

2). Amount of coal mined in U.S. [[e.g., Pa, WV, etc.)

3). [[future) Amount of gasoline consumed within the U.S.

So #1 has crippled MI. #2 has crippled coal producing states.

#3 will cripple the oil refining states.
