    Default Stone Soap Building Redevelopment

From the City of Detroit Government FB page. I love it.

The historic Stone Soap building will be renovated into a new, mixed-use structure.
This $27M development will include 63 residential units [[with 20% of them being affordable housing options), new rental space, and a permanent performance space for Shakespeare In Detroit.
The Stone Soap project is expected to break ground in spring 2018, and will be completed by fall 2020.

Very excited for this project, seeing old building redeveloped on prime riverfront property. Can't wait to see it finished and if it will start more redevelopment for other properties nearby.

I think it will absolutely be a catalyst. Orleans Landing was a good first step. It isn't fantastic but it is pleasant but more importantly it got the ball rolling for other developers who are willing to take a risk and put up developments of higher quality. This will set the new standard for the area.

This looks great, as does the entire East Riverfront plan. Can't wait to see it happen.

That's great news. With that said, I'll just add that the plans look like a total monstrosity. Still, great news.

LOL.... I wonder what would happen if you put a bowling ball on the upper roof and let it go....

    What's the status with this?

Been wondering myself what the status of this project is. There's a sentence in this article that states:
"A mixed-use redevelopment of the historic Stone Soap building could see a groundbreaking within months."
