Default Candice Miller publically attacks Oakland County Sewer Overflows

For the first time, a Drain Commissioner in Macomb, actually goes after Oakland County for its massive sewage overflows.
People often speak of a " Blue Economy " in Michigan.

Property value, recreation, and a way of life in Macomb is jeopardized, due to another county skirting around "proper" stormwater/sewer infrastructure. Oakland took the easy way out years ago - NOW its time to pay up. This is the albatross that LBrooksP will wear around his neck as his legacy.

The one thing everyone wants to do after a prolonged thunderstorm event, when the sun comes back out - go to beach, go in the water, go kayaking, go fishing, etc., etc.

I don't fully understand what's the issue here [[as I have very little background in sewage systems) -- can you explain it in layman's terms?

Lewis Brooks Patterson never built any true, fully functioning, Waste Water Treatment Plants in South-Eastern Oakland County. He built his political prowess, and county financial war chest, on that fact.
He would have killed his career pushing sewage finance on residents.

Oakland County is land locked, away from the Great Lakes coast.
It relies on the rivers for its sewage operations, and never ever put the proper infrastructure in place for its ever expanding commercial/residential facilities. Too much concrete and asphalt, everywhere, without the capability to process sewage/wastewater.

Oakland has NUMEROUS large lakes to dump into, but never did.
I'll leave it up to the imagination of intelligent folks as to why.
Something about taxation of privileged lake front property owners
Oakland County is one of the RICHEST in the entire United States.
Take a guess why it never asked its taxpayers to fund toilet waste.

Sounds like Macomb should just damn up their rivers and watch OC sink in its own wastewater.

A real maniacal case of NIMBY to the n'th degree

It was ALL routed to "other" places, just not thru
    their OaklandCounty neighborhoods, cities, etc.

Time to pay the piper :

But When Oakland County Did It To WARREN
For 50 Years, It Was OK, Right?

This sewerage dumping has to be violating some kind of State if not Federal statute. I don't understand why the surrounding Counties affected by this don't file a class action, forcing Oakland County to stop the dumping, and install a proper sewerage system. It's unbelievable in this day and age, and the fact that this is a very affluent County, that this practice goes on.
