Default Woodward & Grand River Building

Don't worry, not about the Elliott Building, upcoming Shinola Hotel, or Hudson's, but what was the building where Moosejaw and a parking deck now inhabit? This would be SW corner. Perhaps there was a thread about this? Thanks!

My mind is going completely blank on this one, but what little research I can find is a city study listing an address of 1281 Woodward for a "Traub Bros." building, which seems to have been in existence since at least 1894.

There is also an 1275-1279 Woodward building [[Hickey's), which it would seem would have been in the same corner, but the piece expressley mentions 1281 having windows on Grand River, so maybe 1275-1279 Woodward was directly south? This building is mentioned as being 4 stories, made of brick and with a terra cotta cornice, and as of the date of the report, still being occupied by Foot Locker if anyone remembers the building.

    Thanks Dexlin for the response!

The only Traub Bros I could find is the Grand Trunk Pub building which originally housed the Traub Bros Jewelry store. Perhaps their original address was in the 1200s before the '21 change? I dunno...

So weird that this corner is a mystery. I can't find a picture. Unlike B. Siegel's corner, or Elliott Building or of course Hudson's...
