At the moment I'm using Wide-band WebSDR to listen to classical music through Radio Romania International at 9790 kilocycles in the 31 meter band. It's a shortwave radio you can control through your own browser.

On this page you can listen to and control a short-wave receiver located at the amateur radio club ETGD at the University of Twente. In contrast to other web-controlled receivers, this receiver can be tuned by multiple users simultaneously, thanks to the use of Software-Defined Radio.

It's frustrating at first but very rewarding once you get the hang of it. First tip I'd recommend is to switch it from USB [[Upper SideBand) to AM then use your mouse to zoom [[MB3 mouse button scroll) & pan[[click&drag) through a 0-29159kc spectrum. Focus on the frequency bands marked by the horizontal magenta lines for the best luck finding a station you like. Persevere. It has a nice filter.

Little did we know, when we bought a computer it came along with a free shortwave radio.

Well, of course Detroityes. I read/ glean many sites, and broadly speaking youtube [[setting aside the dismal, crude and often bombastic content) is a favorite not so much the entirety of the site, but specific video and audio content, including historical information.

I don't believe everything youtube, but its advent completely changed the delivery of video format content, and on some levels accountability. Especially what people say - captured. From design, the arts, social culture, news, history, politics, training or tips on home repair, etc.

Youtube can't be completely dismissed. The information found there is too varied from soup to the eh' 'nuts'.

The link failure was caused by the DYES censorbot. It replaces the Yanky Undersore Tango triglyph with an ellipsis, even inside a URL. What's odd is that "whitey" is no longer censored.

But yanky underscore tango: ... is censored, even inside URLs.

I begin my news day with BBC World News. It has its own CNN type biases but it does a good job of covering major world news events. Since BBC World News is the first thing I look at, perhaps it qualifies as a favorite.

A more offbeat website that I've come across lately that seems to pop up every 2-3 weeks is Metallicman.com .This is one American expatriate's opinionated somewhat inside view of China and other things living in China. He covers music, Chinese women, cultural and technological events in China as he sees them.
