Default Altercation at the Hub Bike Shop

"Detroit — The Hub of Detroit bicycle shop in Cass Corridor will be closed until next week in light of an alleged racially charged incident that occurred Thursday.

"Sherry McLaughlin, president of the board of directors for Back Alley Bikes, a nonprofit that owns the Hub of Detroit, said a black male came into the shop the morning of June 22. While waiting for a bike repair, he allegedly uttered a series of racial slurs toward a black employee, she said. He was then asked to leave. That day, a man, James E. Lee III, claimed on social media that he was physically attacked by the staff.

“Went in for a bike repair and the owner and workers jumped me,” he wrote on Facebook, adding, “Horrible customer service and the worst experience I’ve ever had as a first time bike rider in the city of Detroit.”

Sad, sounds like it was just a guy looking to make a scene.

This is my primary bike shop.

Riding up and down Cass through 3rd all the time, you can see the push and pull between new Midtown and old Cass Corridor. This sounds like more of that.

It's smart to file a report so that there is an official record of this, given that the man is claiming that he was criminally assaulted by the staff and a victim of a hate crime. There are people on Facebook who have made threats of violence towards the shop and its employees because of this man's phony claims of racism.

Same thing happend to a guy with his kids at a park,he sees a little girl wandering around lost,so he starts taking her around trying to find her parents, father sees him and goes up to him and starts beating him up,it was filmed and put on social media as he was trying to kidnap the girl.

The whole family had to leave town, the police were doing public notices saying that it was not as posted and the information people were receiving was incorrect.

Some people do not like genifcation and they will do what it takes to make that clear, but it is like anything else it only takes one to impact many.

As long as he doesn't turn into a serious jerk, you know? It wouldn't hurt the DPD to crosswalk one less sports fan after some game, and go ask this guy what's going on. You know, just to let him know he's on their radar.

This is just one reason why it's so important to have a security camera in side shops. Think of the incidents of maltreatment that were retracted once it became known that a camera captured all the alleged action. Without video, it's a he-said-she-said matter.
