Default Homeland Security fake security alert - helped Bush get re-elected

    http://www.usnews.com/blogs/washingt...after-911.html

Tom Ridge, the first head of the 9/11-inspired Department of Homeland Security, wasn't keen on writing a tell-all. But in The Test of Our Times: America Under Siege...and How We Can Be Safe Again, out September 1, Ridge says he wants to shake "public complacency" over security. And to do that, well, he needs to tell all. Especially about the infighting he saw that frustrated his attempts to build a smooth-running department. Among the headlines promoted by publisher Thomas Dunne Books: Ridge was never invited to sit in on National Security Council meetings; was "blindsided" by the FBI in morning Oval Office meetings because the agency withheld critical information from him; found his urgings to block Michael Brown from being named head of the emergency agency blamed for the Hurricane Katrina disaster ignored; and was pushed to raise the security alert on the eve of President Bush's re-election, something he saw as politically motivated and worth resigning over.

Yet another confirmation of what we knew all along- the fascist right at work. I was blogging on the subject years ago, and everyone thought I was crazy to suggest that our benevolent Bush would use the childish "color code" terror threat alert to scare people into voting for him in 2004.

I knew some of the less egregious Rethuglicans like Tom Ridge would eventually float to the surface like so much debris from the wreckage left behind by the Bush Crime Family, and reveal the truth of what happened. But alas, it was already a well know suspicion to most of us who were paying attention.

Is anyone here surprised? Do the right wingers here feel punk'd? They should, they were played like pianos.

Are we supposed to admire Tom Ridge for coming clean after-the-fact? If he had any balls or respect for the American people, he would have made this information known when it mattered.

This is what helped Bush get re-elected:

    Attachment 2794
"I'm John Kerry and I'm reporting for duty."

    Attachment 2793
What's the deal with Massachusetts politicians campaigning while wearing goofy headgear?

Actually, it was having the head of Diebold Corporation, maker of the Ohio voting machines state publicly that HE was going to deliver Ohio for George Bush, that got him "re-elected." Nuff said.

Or that Ken Blackwell, then-Secretary of State of Ohio, was also Bush's Ohio campaign chair.

I can't wait to hear the right wing's spin on this. Oh, wait, you wont hear about it on the right wing media, this will go a long way to help clueless neo-con sheep see there is no such thing as a "liberal media" bias.

When the right is wrong or has been called out change the topic of discussion.

Every American should be outraged, but unfortunately today most Americans are partisans first and Americans second.

He [[Ridge) didn't do what he alleges he was asked to do...the system worked [[even if you believe ridge, which I am not so sure you should).

    LOL!!!

The system worked? Perhaps as a cheap political trick, pulled on the American people by fear mongering fascists. What a load of political hackery, not even well disguised.

Remember the exploding cows? The poison pens? How about the duct tape? Fox Noise loved squealing about this crap all day and night.

He didn't do it, but don't believe him because he said he did.

Like I said, partisans first, Americans second.

Tom Ridge is just another suck-up Rethuglican, less fanatical than the Bush Crime Family, but a junior member nonetheless. He had an obligation to step down, and expose these bastards, and like the simpering short-dicked men of the Rethuglican party, chose to lap up the party line.

He should be thrown in prison for it. Its a breach of national security when you send up a false alarm.

If you don't, or can't believe him [[ridge), then he has no credibility and the whole point is moot. Don't mind me libs, it's that pesky old logic rearing it's head again.

Are you speaking to yourself, also? We already determined you're a lib by your own definition.

So, do you believe Ridge? People suspected it, then the government admitted the data was 3 years old, then Ridge himself [[opening himself up to prosecution) admitted it. Does A = A, or are you reacting emotionally due to your partisan first [[American second) mentality?

Nope, just pointing out the unrealistic reality you seem to live in.

He said he did, you say he didn't.

    Who has more credibility?

When did "we" determine that I was a liberal? Who is the "we" you refer too?
