Default Detroit On The Road To Fiscal Recovery

As I read this article, Detroit has had surpluses the last two audited fiscal years.

The next fiscal years ends in 31 days and also is expected to show a surplus.

So once the current fiscal year books are audited and it shows another surplus the city can exit financial oversight.

And everything I read on this forum is that things are getting better by the year...

emu Steve, the only thing that can thwart our city's spreading prosperity is a socialist government. I am very thankful that Mayor Duggan is a practical man, and not an ideologue. A hard-core liberal would be blocking growth and tearing up much that has already been in done, in the name of social and economic justice.

True social and economic justice is being able to keep what you earn.

Good work and I agree, hope no one tries to convince us that the last 70 years is the better option. Money will quickly find better places to go and I'm afaid, it will take a lot more effort to lure it back as has been the case over the past 5 or so years

It's good to know that with Detroit on the "comeback", that in some ways, things are getting better.

However, unless "all of Detroit" truly rise itself from the ashes, you can't call it a true revival.
