    Default 79 Watson st? Questions

    Morning everyone
    couple of questions ...
    1) how do you find out who owns a prop in the city?
    2) looking for info on a building [[old pictures etc...) where would you suggest I look ?

We think the address is 79 Watson. Basing this off the building next door which is 78 Watson ...its the empty one with the signs

    Hello!

Generally street addresses will have gaps between them. For example, I live at 4001 Oak Street, my next door neighbor lives at 4021 Oak Street.

Also, generally, all of the odd addresses are on one side, and all of the even addresses are on another side.

Here is a tool to lookup Detroit property tax information: https://is.bsasoftware.com/BSA.IS/Lo...2fdefault.aspx

Here is some info I found:

Also found it in this article, but I don't see an address: http://www.michipreneur.com/tyree-gu...n-for-detroit/

I mistakenly thought it would be the next highest, but with the way the addresses go, it should be lower.

It looks like it may be 64 Watson:
01000750. DEVON RENEWAL, LLC. 64 WATSON

I found a facebook page for the building with renderings of what it would look like restored:

    https://www.facebook.com/64-Watson-T...6001704452304/

It is, indeed, 64 Watson, called "The Devon Building".

I sincerely appreciate the help. Its a cool little building sitting in an area prime for redevelopment. I love its bones. I didn't even think of how they might not have consecutive address #s.

I'm glad I could help! It is a neat building, but the renovation plans and Facebook page look old, the plan might have stalled or died.

Motorcitymapping.org is also a good source for information on property owners.

Supposedly going to be demo's in June and replaced by a new building that will contain 6 condo's. The initial plans indicated some of the building would be saved however I'm not sure. It sounds like it is a complete replacement.

Why does it say "Heidelburg Project Parking Only" on the fenced in lot next to it?

Until recently the Heidelburg project was headquartered in the commercial building next door. It has been sold and the Heidelburg project was to relocate.

The building was to be demolished a couple years ago, they knocked down the cornice, but it's still holding on. One of the residents of the neighborhood owned it at the time, though I'm not sure the status at this point.

If you are looking for old images of buildings in Metro Detroit, the Manning Brothers collection may be able to help.

Manning Bros. used to take assessor's pics for much of metro Detroit. The collection's website is below. Click *HERE* for a link to their website
