Every two years, UNESCO schedules a long conference or meeting celebrating design, broadly defined. This year's was in Saint-Etienne. The organizers placed a major focus upon Detroit and its history and the accomplishments of the residents of the city. The Detroit Sound Conservancy preserved the hallowed stage from the Blue Bird Inn and reassembled it in Saint-Etienne for this conference. I wonder if anybody attended and has reports about how Detroit was portrayed in this UNESCO event. I saw nothing in the News, or Freep but I suspect those papers no longer have a Paris bureau.
