...where was the location of the Algiers Hotel?

It was on Virginia Park right off Woodward, between Euclid and Seward.

When you zoom up at the park-like location, you will see how Virginia Park was rerouted to Seward.

Algiers Motel killings during the 1967 violence?

I don't know about a book, but there's a movie coming out. John Hershey's book was written shortly after the riots and was a fairly good account. I'm sure there are facts known now that either weren't known then or weren't released back then. It was a really bad time and that incident was horrible, for the victims, the City and the Police Department.
