It is all very confusing,the lease is triple net,so hook back up to DSWD bank the 158 million dollars and use the interest to offset the future increases and cover repairs.

What blows my mind is you have a city that changes water supply for whatever reason knowing full well that they were putting their residents at risk and the response is,well that was bad so here is 158 million to reward you for your bad behavior.

It should be no surprise that this was all based on fraud,which happens,until the line is crossed where the residents get thrown under the bus,so I guess that is the answer.

Just to be clear the city was not in charge at the time the decision was made to switch to the Flint River. This was the doing of the Emergency Manager who answered only to Rick Snyder.

If I had a nickel for every time I had to point this out since the beginning of the crisis I would have a shitload of nickels. The revisionists have been in full force all along. They love pointing to the vote by city council to switch to the KWA as proof that it was the cities fault completely ignoring the fact that the proposed interim water supplier was budgeted to remain with DWSD until the KWA was completed 2 years later. The switch to "treated" water from the river was entirely the Emergency Manager and ignoring the corrosion controls was from the MDEQ.

The Detroit Water & Sewer Department [[DWSD) easement that runs through
the western portion of the site contains a 96-inch clean water supply pipeline.
The clean drinking water supply line was constructed in 1967 and serves as
the main distribution from Lake Huron to the Detroit Municipal Water System.

* The DWSD 96 inch drinking water main has been completely submerged
by chemical groundwater/leachate on more than one occasion.*
Lets hope there was no infiltration/inflow issues; it was built in 1967.
That’s a long time for leaks, cracks, splits, etc. to occur in the pipes.

each year for newly built freshwater transmission lines north of the GLWA

lines have the option of signing up for, possibly at a better than seven dollar
per year discount for those ratepayers, this narrative highlights nonpayment
by Flint plus the full dollar amount for the full length of time.

GLWA Director McCormick intends at this time to close at least one GLWA
water plant as GLWA has fresh water production overcapacity. The result
of every possible community signing on with KWA would probably be the
closure of an additional GLWA water plant or two.

The City of Pontiac received $55 million in funds from a bond issue
after a deal with the Oakland County Water Resources Commission
to sell unused capacity in the city's wastewater treatment system.


The proceeds have been used to pay off some of the city's bonded debt
and to leave the general fund with a surplus of about $4 million.

People forget the INTERCEPTOR is primarily sewage transport
