    My father took photographs once a month from the tip of Belle Isle during construction. My mother threw out all of them as well as 20 years worth of his photographs.

    That is so maddening. Did your mom intentionally toss the pics or was it an accident? Either way it sounds like a real loss for you and a painful memory.

    Moms, in their quest for neatness and order, have a habit of pitching stuff. I can think of four or five collections of mine that went out because they were "cluttering up my desk drawers".
