    Default 51st Park

51st Park was on 51st street between Michigan Ave. and Conrad. Located between Central and Cecil. I spent a third of my childhood there playing on the swings, slide and something called the swinging gate. Every August in the mid 1960's the park would be turned into an amusement park with games of chance and booths set up. A stage would be set up where the Queen of 51st Park would be crowned. She would then be driven around the neighborhoods on the back of a convertible to show off her crown. Does anyone have any pictures taken of the August event? Any memories of 51st Park?

This land once had a smelting company on it I believe. Before it was a park.
