There you have it. Retail, offices, residential coming to the old building. Great news.

Fantastic news. Not only is Gilbert saving a very important and historic building in Detroit, but it will be put to good use, unlike the previous owners.
This is a place I could see myself living in hopefully in the future.
Now, what would be the best retail option here?
There's no real shopping on Lafayette, just a few restaurants - Lafayette/American and nothing until the Round Bar at Fort Shelby.
Wondering if that building could ever be used for news media purposes? Maybe Gilbert could considering moving his PR department there.
Nice. And suddenly those condos at Lafayette and Third[[?) don't seem so far removed from the redevelopment downtown.http://www.freep.com/story/money/bus...town/96943998/

Those surface parking lot need to be developed, ugh. I'm paying all this money to live in the Free Press building, looking at parking lots. Blah. Anyway, glad it's being redeveloped.
Not sure if this was posted before but here is the official page for the free press building as it is now redeveloped. There are some photos of the project.

It looks like there's going to be a rooftop pool, pretty awesome.
