Default Classy Drinks and... maybe dancing.

Am very familiar with the dive and 'character' side of the D for drinks. Looking for a classy place to take a lady after dinner for drinks, maybe dancing. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

The Vanity or Grande Ballrooms are great. Oh wait, that was 80 years ago.

When I lived in Detroit about 4 years ago I enjoyed Vicente's Cuban restaurant on Library St. the old Goodhousekeeping Shop building. On Friday night they had a live band and dancing.

I know places where you can buy some dances, but they're further out on the 8 Mile border.

I'll second Vicente's, classy with dancing albeit salsa-centric.

Does Centaur have dancing upstairs? I was on a kick of going there about 10 years ago just for drinks with the lady of the time. Always liked that place. Classy, small and somewhat quiet. This place is behind the Fox.

There's room for dancing at the Gaelic League with live music on Fri and Sat [[except this Sat) - drinks may not qualify as classy - but Jameson and Ginger is pretty classy

Fred and Ginger were classy on the dance floor too!

Hah! Jameson whiskey! Understated and undervalued. I rarely drink hard liquor but I do enjoy whiskey once in a while and frankly, when I do, I usually go for Jameson's. None of the overblown pricey Scotch for little old uncle me, no sir.

The second floor of Firebird in Greektown is an entire dance floor - and the place is relatively nice.

Vicente's is definitely a good recommendation - they have free salsa lessons each week too if you get there early [[around 8pm).

I think I went to a performance of Emerson, Lake and Palmer at the Grande in the 70's. I think the opening act was the band Yes. Or maybe it was vice versa. That was only about 50 years ago. Or maybe I actually didn't go, I was on a lot of drugs back then.

Cliff Bells is a classy place to take a lady and occasionally has dancing.
Whiskey Parlor would be a nice place to get more intimate afterwards.

Greektown, or Foxtown, or maybe a taxi between the two?
Do the three casino's have anything, apart from gambling?
