Quote: "NEVER tells us"
You mean NEVER tells you anything.
Quote: "Why would He allow later editors or revisionists or translators to introduce errors [[contradictions, inconsistencies) in His book?"
I don't know.
So you've spoken to God, then?
Or rather [[since you're such a stickler for accuracy) God has spoken directly to you?
God speaks to all believers. What about you, what do you believe in? Where do you stack your chips so to speak?
Perspective people...get too close and take the bible literally and you will be lost.
Quote: "What has he told you?"
Oh many things. For me it's not an audible voice. It's a feeling or an emotion that compels me to make decisions on an array of different subjects. If you aren't a believer, you won't understand. I know you guys are saying "we got a live one here" the fact is, I could care less what anyone thinks. The old saying, Those that matter won't mind, and those that mind won't matter, applies.

I don't care about anything but shutting down the whorehouse on C street where the Christial Cultists known as "The Family" were banging the whores while their wives were organizing bridge club.

Just a few in the rogue's gallery of conceited Christian Fascists who's aim is to turn America into a fascist Christian state.
Read this fun stuff:

Lorax, all this religious talk just has your head doing 360's. LOL
Ya found five people that have fallen out of 240 Million, good for you.
Five people in high positions of power and influence who are determined to overthrow the country with their Christo/Fascist ideals.
Not to mention these teeny tiny men represent only a fraction of "the fallen" as you so call them.
And America has over 300 million people.
Quote: "And America has over 300 million people."
Of which 80% claim to have a Christian based belief. Roughly 10% more believe in another faith, only 10% claim atheism. So looking at those numbers and this being democracy, your group doesn't have much pull in regard to sheer numbers. In other words Siddown...
Quote: "only a fraction of "the fallen" as "
All have sinned all for short, your point?
Where are these "numbers" from, exactly?Quote: "And America has over 300 million people."

Regardless of numbers, it doesn't change the fact that America is a secular nation. Period.
Any imposition of belief in fairy tales or superstition on the national agenda is illegal.
If you are such an advocate for State Sponsored Religion, then move to Iran.
Maybe as a society its time to look at marriage as one of our social institutions that isn't serving us as well as it should and changes should be made.
You can make a case that since half of all marriages end in divorce, that either marriages should be easier to get out of or harder to get in to.
Given our increased life spans, economic equality [[in some cases superiority) of women, having children because you want them, rather than needing them and other realities of the 21st century maybe the need for the type of marriage we have now doesn't exist any longer.
Depending on the studies you read the number of men and now women having affairs is off the charts.
To marry just because of romantic love, while it sounds nice doesn't hold up for many marriages especially since people are living into their 70's, 80's and 90's.
What you thought was crazy good in your 20's is just now crazy in your 60's. Peoples taste in everything changes over time and unfortunately that includes spouses as well.
Repairing a marriage after an affair ? yes you can, but the affair is a symptom of a far greater problem.
Of course now I'm going to hear about all the long term marriages and how great they are but, in looking at statistics its those exceptions that prove the rule.
Pretty high level conversation on this topic. Loved the religous battle discussing David, Soloman and a whole host of doers and do-bees. Pretty good stuff.
However, for you personally, could you recover from an affair like the one Sanford had. Not a drunken grope gone hyper-drive at the company xmas party. A real love/lust affair.
Could you recover? You're the injured party. Could you forgive?
Me? NFW
You proved my point. The people who wrote different books in the bible had a feeling or emotion that inspired them to write about different subjects. God didn't tell them what to write.

In a few cases, I think it can be. People make mistakes. Now if the affair was some long drawn out relationship, then no, but if a man or woman makes a bad choice and cheats and regrets it, things can be mended. I'm sure some of you out there may have cheated and after wonder what have you done.

I'm not, but you keep saying I am. A country consists of a people and their Government. Without people, it is just land. If 80% of those people have a certain belief it is going to undoubtedly influence Government. Lorax, that's how it is, you and yours will not change it. In other words "Tough Titty".
Quote: "God didn't tell them what to write."
Again, that is just your opinion.

Who is the dictator with complete power at the head of the centralized government?
What force is used to suppress dissent?
What industries and commerce are suppressed?
Where is the unfounded nationalism?
Racism?
Now, apply these same questions to the Obama administration....concerning, no?
You're right. The answer is "No".
Cheney was a closer fit to a fascist than is Obama, but they both fail the definition--thank God [[No, Sstashmoo, I'm not thanking your God.)
80% of people may or may not believe in something supernatural, that isn't the point, or the correct figure. Religion is on the wane in western societies, and again, Europe is ahead of the curve.Quote: "If you are such an advocate for State Sponsored Religion,"

Only in the middle east, and here in America do you see the dogmatic self-righteousness of people of "faith".
You don't have mega-churches in other nations like you do here. It's a big business run by charlatans, and is about selling phony salvation to ignorant people. It's a failure of our ability to educate people, and stop indoctrinating them from a young age to believe in superstitions.
But to the point that it influences our public policy, this is where the "believers" need to take a step back, and remember that we are a secular society, and have separation of church and state, and never shall they meet. Religion by it's nature is exclusive, and prejudicial. I'd rather not be at the mercy of a law enforcement officer or judge who believes in "the rapture" or in talking snakes and virgin births.
My lack of belief sets me up as a target for discrimination by those who are dogmatic in their faith. I'm called "godless" "a devil worshipper" "socialist, communist," yaddda, yadda, yadda.
The "faithful" even destest each other- Lutherans against Catholics, against Pentacostals, Methodist- everyone needs their own clubhouse and reason to hate or distrust each other.
Any intelligent, thinking person faced with this reality won't touch religion with a barge pole.
Quote: "The lack of scientific evidence makes it FACT."
Science is just a study of all things not a final authority on all things. The more we learn, the more we don't know.
Quote: "Any intelligent, thinking person faced with this reality won't touch religion with a barge pole."
Your President believes in God.
Quote: "You don't have mega-churches in other nations like you do here."
Yeah and thats what makes this country great, if you don't like it, I'll extend the same invitation you did to me, Leave. I like all the churches here in this country, we need more of them. Put an active church on every block in Detroit and it wouldn't look like it does. Know that.

Lorax, you're outnumbered in this country 9:1. Get over it already. You have this fixation about anyone's faith, I think you're lost.

By whom? Show me on this forum where you've been called any of that? I think you're lying.
The only attack you're experiencing is going on between your earmuffs. Nobody is attacking you for your beliefs.
