Well O did a great job of protecting the 1 percent. Even Buffet who made a ton on the recent stock market increases was rooting for Hillary.

Take it back a step further. Had SOS Clinton and Obama not pursued their policy of toppling Assad and inadvertently provided weapons to ISIS , ISIS would never have metastasized into the larger entity it is and there wouldn't be so many refugees. ISIS and Al Queda wouldn't be working out of Libya either. I hope that Trump will cooperate with Russia, as he said he would, to smash ISIS and implicitly stop attempting to overthrow Assad.

Well, now his latest priority is his Make America Great hats, still made in China. Is he really getting over a hundred dollars for them, as alleged on one of the cable "news" channels?

That whole thing reminds me of some making the statement of " I am going to shoot you"

My whole thing is why talk about it,if you are going to do it then do it,because once one talks about it then you have to make the first move.

He is right about announcing intentions over CNN beforehand, kinda kills the element of surprise.

So now if he says,I am putting a factory in Detroit to manufacture MAGA hats everybody will be screaming that it is a business conflict of interest.

That kinda makes the whole where he makes what a moot point because no matter where it is made it will not be good enough.

Mrs. Clinton would have hand embroidered each of her hats, and given them out for free as stocking stuffers.

Acclrding to the Washington Post, Trump's repudiation of the New Air Force One program came after Boeing's CEO's critical evaluation of Trump's stance on trade.
His announcement of a major investment byba Japanese corporation was inbthenpipeline for months before the deal was staged at Chump Tower.

Interesting article in the Washington Post, a hillbilly rag based somewhere on the eastern seaboard about retired General Flynn. Let's give him a chance, em, I meant to say an inch.

What would forum members, particularly older ones, have said if told, say twenty five years ago, that a President Elect's priorities would be to criticize the CIA and more than a dozen other security agencies while praising the Russian dictator in charge?

Paul Waldman, the author of that article, is a liberal propagandist based on what Wikipedia says about him. The formerly renowned Washington Post has similarly become a fake news outlet since Jeff Bezos took over its ownership. 20-30 reporters were hired to take down Trump months before the election at the Washington Post. Recently, the Washington Post published a list of fake news sites it claimed were Russian propagandists. No one had ever heard of that article's source of this list. This isn't to say the Waldman article was incorrect. Also, freedom of the press allows the Washington Post, Infowars, and other such publications to say what they want. Trump noted the Bezos' Amazon has an antitrust problem but I don't know it that was what drove Bezos to propagandize the Washington Post or if Bezos is trying to take Trump down for suggesting an anti-trust problem. Since many prominent neocon leaders broke with the republican party to support Hillary, it is no surprise to see Democrats picking up where Joe McCarthy left off finding imaginary Russkies under every rock. Just imagine, we could have instead voted for Hillary who advocated a no fly zone over Syria where Russian military planes fly. Neocons would have liked that.

I have found this point fascinating. When the Russian government were communists killing the political opposition to keep a firm grip on power, invading neighbors and arming anybody to help finance there own arms industry while increasing their sphere of influence on the world stage, they were a great threat to America.

Now that the current regime is doing the exact same thing and the only real difference is that the communists are gone and are replaced with an organized criminal organization with it roots from the KGB the current President-elect seems to imply that they are no threat to us in any way only a potential ally.

How one sells fear to achieve political power can change 180 degrees if necessary.

    ABetterDetroit-

Yes to what you wrote, but also, old alliances between companies and Nations like Occidental Petroleum and the USSR are redefined by Trump's appointment of Rex Tillerson as Secretary of State. Armand Hammer was a key diplomatic player when he headed Exxon in the Soviet era. There is a definite rapprochement between the New Trump administration and Putin's. Expect Assad to continue pounding the hell out of all opposition. Russians need their pipelines going places.

Yes, it is all about the pipeline, and once it is located where Putin wishes, who shares the profits.

Yes, and look at Trump's position on the Environment. He wants to pull all stops and go wild on hydrocarbons. There is a frantic search for ways to make money in an area of manufacturing that is not as prone to stagnation because of the US's vast reserves. An easy way of boosting what Obama had already Kickstarted a while back.

I would agree that long term strategic geographical issues like a good port on the Med come into play but you can't rule out the immediate short term goals of backing the Assad regime with Russian military power.

First and most critical from a Russian perspective is that they have had their interests ignored by several consecutive administrations by both parties in DC for decades. It will be guaranteed that after this intervention in Syria, that when Putin walks into the room he will gain respect that he never had before. His military option is no longer just a threat beyond his borders but a proven available option by recent history.

A second enormous immediate benefit is that there will be a reevaluation of the advantages of being allied to the Kremlin by many countries. This move is a game changer to their foreign policy and arms sales and most particularly to non democratic regimes and dictators that stand up to American pressures that are looking for the alternative. Now, if you buy the Russian product for your battlefield and things go south and become dangerous there is a precedent of Russian military intervention to save your ass including from your own people. Strictly from an arms sales perspective for them, that is an excellent way to sell a lot more weapons world wide.
