The opposite is true...Capitalism values individual freedom as the primary moral value. Totalitarianism is the antithesis of that.

Bush had some socialist policies [[entitlement expansion, amnesty...to name a couple), but not enough to consider him to be on the way to totalitarian dictatorship. Obama, on the other hand, is already there and then some.
I beg to differ.
The underlying objective of capitalism is to concentrate capital. The logical extension of this concept is that over time more and more capital is concentrated into fewer and fewer hands; the ultimate result [[although other factors may limit this) is that all capital will be concentrated in one hand.
Who can then dictate to the have-nots as he/she sees fit, since no one will be able to survive outside the system.
In a word, totalitarianism. A new Pharoah arises.
If however circumstances prevent all capital being concentrated in one hand, we still end with an oligarchy of most capital being concentrated in a few hands.
The result is the same, whether it is dicatatorship by one or by a few.

Sorry Elganned...no such concentration of capital is implied or stated as having anything to do with capitalism. You are referring to something else...what that might be? Anyone's guess. Nearest that I can tell is that it is a demented and paranoid definition that someone convinced you of.
I beg to differ.

If your answer is no, then you are either lying to yourself or woefully misinformed. The end result of raw, unfettered capitalism, as exemplified by the robber baron era is an increasing concentration of capital into fewer and fewer hands. the ultimate end of this is, definitively, the creation of a system where corporate interests [[read that as CEO interests) dictate public policy to washington and dictate everything to their employees [[cases of people getting canned for legal things they have done outside of work have already been upheld by the Supremes [[one that springs to mind is a guy who got canned for drinking a competitor's beer at a party). Poof. there goes freedom, except for the rich. and btw, that would much less likely be youhttp://dictionary.reference.com/browse/capitalism

It doesn't exclude that capitalism means little green men are on Mars plotting to attack the Earth either....it just happens that it is not implicit of the meaning of the word Capitalism. In fact, competition, as a necessary component of capitalism would discourage the concentration of capital.
Logic is killing you on this one Rb..and you have spun out of control by being so inflammatory and defensive.
And you've lost your argument before it began with your tacit support of the oxymoron that competition somehow trumps the concentration of capital. It doesn't exclude that capitalism means little green men are on Mars plotting to attack the Earth either....it just happens that it is not implicit of the meaning of the word Capitalism. The current economic collapse would beg to differ with you.
no, bats, logic is clearly on my side on this, as your absurd opening comment makes perfectly clearIt doesn't exclude that capitalism means little green men are on Mars plotting to attack the Earth either....it just happens that it is not implicit of the meaning of the word Capitalism. Yeah, I love those over promising "fantastic opportunity" non-insurance, downline-building, MLM, SEO-based insurance scams! And they always take the oblique approach to drive you to their site.....I can run on over to craigslist for that...
