    Two stores and a factory perhaps.

    "His company is nearing a decision on the site for its Detroit Art Van store, he said; figure a year after the signing of the lease before the building is remodeled and the first furniture goes out the door.

    The mattress store also is in the where-should-we-put-it phase, and the factory is actually in Mississippi. But it’s making a model called the Detroit Sofa, with an upper-middle price point of about $1,200, and he said production will move here when he finds a suitable 100,000-square-foot facility.

    “We designed it here, and we wanted to train people in Detroit to make it,” said Van Elslander, 86."
