Default Legendary Caucus Club restaurant to reopen in downtown Detroit

Ever get the feeling that one by one the lights are coming back on downtown? A couple of days ago it was announced the the historic Caucus Club was reopening. Like the nearby London Chop House, also shuttered then reopened in 2012, it was a famous watering hole of the wheelers and dealers of the old financial district.

The new 155 seat restaurant will be a mix of new and old including a rebuilt stage where Barbra Streisand famously got her start as a lounge singer in 1961. The original piano was sold, so a vintage Baldwin piano from 1952, the year the original Caucus Club opened as a spin-off of the London Chop House across the street, has been obtained.

With so many other high-end restaurants in the casinos, the RenCen, plus Roast, Top of the Pontch, etc. I don't know how there is enough business for another one. But then I didn't understand the Chop House re-opening either. The martini lunch crowd is long gone. Is there any high-end business lunch clientele any more? If not, how can you make it just on dinner? I would love to know if the owner has marketing research that says there is demand for this type of rest. or simply thinks, "I would love to bring back the Caucus Club." Don't get me wrong. I hope it does great. I just would like to know the thinking behind it.

Anyone know the culinary credentials of the new owner/team?

I cannot wait to visit, but I hope the food isn't a flop. That's the ultimate letdown.

    From the article:

"Restaurateur George Sboukis, whose family owns Loui's Chophouse in Chesterfield, announced his plans to revive the restaurant..."

    "
The kitchen will be headed up by Executive Chef Rick Hussey, currently head chef at Filippa's Wine Barrel in Shelby Township, while Vertical Detroit's Michael Kreger will run the bar."

So how much would a "typical" lunch be at this place now?

how elaborate is the menu going to be?
