    Default Park Avenue Diner

Anyone remember an old streetcar-style diner on either Park Ave or Cass around Sprout? Right after high school in '67 I worked at a parking lot on Bagley a block west of the Michigan Theatre and lived in the Park Ave Hotel [[$12 a week). I always ate supper at this diner.

I'm a little too young to remember it [[although not by much), but it was at 2621 Park, between Sibley and Sproat. Next to the Park Ave. Hotel, which would later be taken over by the Salvation Army as first the Eventide Residence and then the Harbor Light Center. The hotel is gone now and that whole area is soon to become Ilitch's loading dock for his new hockey palace.

I left out the fact that it was an S&C [[Sutton & Clemens) diner, like most of those dining cars in Detroit.
